OFFERED CLASSES
Art One (9, 10, 11, 12)
This course is designed to analyze what is art. Art 1 is a foundation course focusing on the elements and principles of design, aesthetic awareness, thinking critically, and developing observation. A variety of media will be explored such as, sketching, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics. Whether your goal is a future career in the arts or pure creative enjoyment, Art ties into all areas of our lives and will benefit your academic portfolio! This class will provide you with the creative edge, problem solving skills, teamwork, cultural awareness, and develop your visual communication skills.
(This course is a prerequisite to all other art courses.)
Art Two (10, 11, 12)
This course is an extension of Art 1. Using what you learned in the previous course, you are now able to expand your ideas and level of ability. Students in Art Two will continue to focus on the elements and principles of design, aesthetic awareness, thinking critically, and observation at an advance level. A variety of media will be explored such as, sketching, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics. By the end of this class, students will have the opportunity to propose an independent studio assignment, as preparation and practice for enrolling in Studio Art and AP Art Portfolio.
(This course is a prerequisite to Studio Art and AP Art Portfolio.)
Studio Art (10, 11, 12)
Studio Art is for students who show a continued interest and high degree of understanding, skill, and art appreciation. This course is for the in-debth personal application of art, history, aesthetics, and portfolio preparation. This course may be repeated for credit.
AP Art Portfolio (12)
This course if offered to students who wish to work independently at an accelerated level. All artwork assembled in this course will be through studio practice, application of design concepts, and informed decision-making. By the end of the course, all students will create a body of artwork that demonstrates quality and growth over time, as well as, technique, and process. Portfolio work may be completed for college credit.
Honors
Our art program provides those of you who wish to excel in this content area the chance to earn honors credit. If you receive an A in the class, you are qualified to earn 5.0.

Stuck or in need of inspiration?
Create a bubble map. Have a starting point, and create shoots that go off, adding everything you think of that connect ideas and themes. As you go through this process, it allows you to look further and dig deeper into finding a topic or idea. For example: Instead of going with "Technology" you might narrow down to a concept focusing on, "Social Media: the cause and effect on relationships in the 21st century."
