ABOUT ME:Hello! I am thrilled to be providing this website platform to the high school visual arts program. Kelloggsville holds a special place in my heart. Thats right, I am a Rocket born and raised! It is a privilege to be an art teacher in the community that helped inspire my career. I am beyond grateful!
-Mrs. Bodo My Dog:
Anyone who has spent even five minutes with me knows that my English Bulldog, Bentley is my extremely spoiled fur child. I can talk about him forever. So be careful if you ask. Hobbies:
Much of my free time is spent with my family. We enjoy anything from a weekend game night to traveling R.V. style. I'm a fan of all things Michigan State Sports and St. Louis Cardinal baseball! Yes. I know, wrong state. So I check in on the Detroit Tigers too. Favorite Music: Country music. Live even better. I enjoy concerts and have been to many shows. Right now my favorite band is Old Dominion. Don't fear if you think that is all I will play in the art room. I can enjoy most music styles as long as the lyrics are positive. |
About My Career:
This is my third year as an art educator. The past two years I was in charge of a small Kindergarten through Eighth grade program. My heart is in secondary art education. I find that sharing in the process of a students artistic self discovery is the most rewarding aspect of my job! Degree Earned: I earned my bachelors of fine arts with a K-12 teaching certificate from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My Artwork: While I enjoy dabbing in a variety of mediums and techniques, I usually focus my work in figure drawing or painting. I'm inspired by the people, places, and objects that that fill my everyday life. I feel most successful when my work has personal meaning. Although my image gallery demonstrates the variety of my art education portfolio, the majority of my work is made with layers of loose marks of bright colors. Along with my fine artwork I have recently taken up quilting. At the moment, sewing practice and technique is my main concern, my goal is to work only using my ideas and patterns. As well as, finding a personal way to incorporate sewn fabric with mix media painting or drawing. Favorite Artist: Like my own art I'm inspired by artists who work freely. My all time favorite artist is Impressionist, Edgar Degas. His work with ballet dancers speaks to my childhood, growing up dancing competitively. Recently I discovered Contemporary American artist, Christy Kinard. I'm in love with her free mix media style floral paintings! |
